A retroreflective marking sends light directly back to its source — the driver's headlamp.
Standard paints and non-reflective materials scatter light in all directions; at 150 metres in darkness, a vehicle doing 80 km/h needs retroreflective markings on the road environment and on other vehicles to react in time. Retroreflectivity is not a premium finish — it is a legally required performance specification on highway signs in every jurisdiction that has adopted IRC:67, ASTM D4956, or EN 12899-1 standards. The correct grade of film at the correct RA value is what makes a sign visible, not just present.
Film grade determines performance class — and failure mode when underspecified.
Engineer Grade glass-bead film is appropriate for low-speed roads and site signage up to seven years. High-Intensity prismatic film meets the RA floor for national road regulatory and warning signs. Diamond Grade sealed-lens prismatic is the specification required for motorway and high-speed road environments where signs must remain above minimum RA thresholds for ten to twelve years. Substituting a lower grade to reduce initial cost results in below-standard retroreflectivity before the design service life expires — a liability risk for any road authority or OEM.
Vehicle conspicuity marking is compulsory — and the grade is specified by regulation.
CMVR Rule 104 and AIS-008 mandate retroreflective conspicuity tape on heavy commercial vehicles in India; UN ECE R104 sets the same requirement in 54 countries. The specified tape must meet minimum RA and colour values at defined observation and entrance angles — not any reflective product that appears visually bright. We manufacture vehicle conspicuity marking tape and rear chevron boards to the exact grade, colour, and dimensional requirements of the applicable regulation for OEM fitment and fleet retrofit programmes.

Twelve-Year Outdoor Life on Aluminium Sign Plate
Diamond-grade prismatic film on 0.3 mm or 1.0 mm hot-dip aluminium substrate, sealed with UV-stable overlaminate, rated to twelve years outdoor service life on road-facing vertical surfaces in tropical and arid climates — ASTM D4956 Table 1 Type IV performance class. Colour shift, delamination, and retroreflectivity loss all tested to the same standard. Specified for national highway sign replacement where minimum ten-year service life is contractually required.
Screen-Print and Digital UV Legend on Retroreflective Face
Legends, pictograms, arrows, and full-colour regulatory graphics applied to retroreflective face stock by screen-printing or digital UV flatbed print. Screen-print inks formulated for outdoor UV and moisture resistance on retroreflective surfaces — not standard sign inks that obscure retroreflectivity. Digital UV print available for short-run, variable-data, and multi-colour designs that exceed screen-print colour count or minimum order thresholds.
